I have little to say of poetry, save this:

The poet is bound by his verse, with only the divine reigning supreme above him!

When Winter Draws Near

When Winter Draws Near

A Poem by The Winter Child Poet

There are poems that feel like stepping into a warm room from the cold. Not because they shout joy or try to manufacture comfort, but because they carry the kind of quiet truth that settles softly into the chest. When Winter Draws Near is exactly that kind of poem. It lives in the stillness of winter nights— the kind of stillness where you can hear your own breath and the faint hum of a world slowing down just long enough to remember itself. The poem begins with small music:
The frosty winds begin to hum, and chimneys whisper soft and low…
Nothing here is rushed. Nothing is dramatic. Even the wind does not howl—it hums. Even the chimneys do not roar—they whisper. This is the Winter Child Poet’s voice: gentle, attentive, quietly enchanted. The poem paints a village of light: lanterns glowing, windows guarding their warmth, children pressing their faces to fogged glass in search of wonder returning for another year. And truly, isn’t that what winter teaches us? To hope again. To wait again. To believe, even a little, that joy can return like an old friend walking back down a snow-lined street. The final stanza lifts the poem into its soft crescendo:
The day draws close, it’s almost here— we hear the bells ring down the street…
There is something sacred about bells carried on cold air. Something that stirs childhood memories and grown-up tenderness at the same time. This poem doesn’t promise miracles— it promises nearness. Warmth approaching. Hope stepping closer. The slow, steady arrival of something good. As the season deepens, may you too feel winter drawing near like a gentle hand at the door— bringing light, memory, music, and the soft glow of home.
