🌿 A Shelter Made of Silence

— When Love Begins Before Words

Some connections don’t begin with conversations, confessions, promises, or plans.

They begin with a look — one that lingers just a second longer than it should,

and in that brief suspension, something inside you shifts.

Today’s poem lives in that suspended second.

It’s the moment when the world stops insisting on noise,

and two people finally hear what their silence has been trying to say.

What fascinates me every time is this:

Love doesn’t always arrive with certainty.

But it often arrives with recognition.

You don’t know the person yet.

Not truly. Not fully.

But something in you — something older, quieter — leans forward.

A bending.

A soft collapse of defenses.

A warmth you didn’t plan for.

This poem explores that first, delicate crossing:

the invisible bridge made only of attention.

No vows. No grand gestures.

Just the raw, unadorned courage of staying present.

What I wanted to show is that intimacy often begins before love has a name.

Sometimes we’re already building a future in the silence we refuse to break.

And yes — there’s fear in it.

Not the fear of losing someone you already have,

but the fear of wanting someone enough that their absence could fracture the ground beneath you.

That fear doesn’t diminish the connection.

It confirms it.
