The Real Poetical Life Story

BLOGGER

I have little to say of poetry, save this:

The poet is bound by his verse, with only the divine reigning supreme above him!

Starlit Covenant

Starlit Covenant

There are moments when song does not arrive as inspiration, but as responsibility.

Starlit Covenant was written from that place.

The poem begins at dusk, not because night is dramatic, but because dusk listens. It is the hour when things loosen just enough for honesty to pass through. I wanted the opening to feel like an easing of grip—clouds exhaling, silence becoming present, the world pausing without explanation.

The singer in this poem is not powerful in the way heroes are. His mouth is made of limits: bone and breath. That matters. What passes through him must fit the human body. Song, here, is not overflow—it is passage. A narrow gate the boundless must learn to respect.

This is a poem about vows that are not shouted.

The covenant formed does not depend on witnesses, applause, or certainty. It survives by being kept quietly, by walking old roads, by accepting that fidelity is not perfection. One of the lines I held onto most closely was the idea that a vow can fail and still remain. That felt true to lived experience. Endurance is not the absence of fracture—it is what continues afterward.

Fire appears in the poem, but not as spectacle. It is something struck, something tested, something flesh must pass through without mythologizing the pain. Even the gods, if they are listening, do not intervene. They lean closer. They listen.

That felt important to me.

Art does not replace the sky.

It answers it from below.

The final image—singing what constellations will not say—comes from the belief that some truths cannot be delegated upward. They belong to human voices, carried carefully, under constraint, in the open hand of night.

This poem does not ask to be believed.

It asks to be kept.
