The Real Poetical Life Story

I have little to say of poetry, save this:

The poet is bound by his verse, with only the divine reigning supreme above him!

Whispers of the Gloaming

Whispers of the Gloaming

There is an hour that doesn’t belong to certainty.

It arrives when the day loosens its grip but night has not yet claimed the world. Colors soften. Sounds thin out. Even thoughts seem to hesitate before finishing themselves. This is the gloaming — not an ending, not a beginning, but a held breath.

Whispers of the Gloaming was written from that threshold.

I wasn’t interested in dusk as beauty alone. Twilight has been praised enough for its calm, its romance, its gentleness. What drew me here was something quieter and more demanding: the way evening asks us to stay present without being comforted, to listen without being absorbed.

This poem lingers in that tension.

The images are soft — nectar, stars, amber clouds — but they carry weight. Grief seeps into the light. Promises remain unmade. Memory does not drift in as nostalgia, but as something that knows our name and refuses to leave quietly.

At the center of the poem stands a lantern shaped from shadow.

Not a guiding light. Not a blessing. A truth that illuminates without mercy. It shows more than the speaker is ready for, and yet it is not rejected. That moment matters to me. Because resistance doesn’t always look like refusal. Sometimes it looks like staying still while something unkind names what we hoped was finished.

This is where the poem resists its own beauty.

It does not let the reader dissolve into atmosphere. It insists on awareness. The gloaming becomes a mirror — not flattering, not cruel, simply clear.

And when morning finally comes, it does not erase what was seen. The cup is raised again, but it carries twilight with it. The melody remains soft. Nothing is solved. Something is held.

That, for me, is the quiet courage of this poem.

Not to conquer the night.

Not to romanticize it.

But to remain — attentive, porous, intact.

Sometimes the most honest thing we can do

is listen all the way through the dark

and still choose to wake.
